Arthur Charles Dimmock was the first child of David Dimmock & Ann Tillcock born July 26th,1879 & christened November 30th, 1879 at St Albans, Herts.
Arthur & his parents were living at Inkerman Rd, St Albans in 1881 & his father was a painter.
By 1891 Arthur had 2 younger sisters & the family were living at Bedford Rd, St Albans.
In 1901 Arthur was living with his widowed mother & sister Ethel at 28 Lattimore Rd, St Albans & his occupation was a plait bleacher (straw hat worker).
Arthur & his mother were still at the same address in 1911 & he was now working as a straw hat blocker. Visiting them at the time of the census was his sister Maud Annie & her husband Arthur Gibbons & their 1 year old son.
On June 30th 1912 Arthur married Edith Kate Webster in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Witnesses at the wedding for F W Powell & Agnes Thoyles?. Edith was born Jan-March 1879 in Norwich & christened June 27th, 1883 at Great Yarmouth, the daughter of Rebecca Webster, a dress maker. Edith gave her father’s name as Edward Webster, a traveller, on the marriage certificate.
Arthur appears in the St Albans City Military Tribunal 1916-1918 papers as seeking to delay or avoid entry into the Army. He appeared as Arthur Charles Dimmock of 56 Kings Rd, St Albans & he was a blocker.
Edith died aged 57 at the General Hospital, Yarmouth & was buried August 6th, 1936 at Caistor Cemetery, Yarmouth.
The 1939 register shows widowed Arthur living at 180 Southtown Rd, Great Yarmouth & he was working as a parlourman domestic.
Arthur died at Gorleston Hospital & was buried January 21st, 1955 at Caistor Cemetery, Yarmouth, Norfolk.
